DETROIT EXPANDS SERVICE TRAINING CENTER, ADDING ELECTRIC VEHICLE COURSES
Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) today announced the opening of an expanded Detroit Service Training Center that will be used to train technicians in electric powertrain maintenance, battery maintenance and complete truck repairs.
“In order for the trucking industry to successfully transition to zero-emission vehicles, technicians must know how to diagnose, service and maintain new technology to keep our valued customers running at maximum uptime,” said Matt Pfaffenbach, Detroit Powertrain operations manager. . “Continued investment in our brand and location is key to ensuring that our unmatched service network is ready to serve our customers and their electric trucks in the future.
Originally established in 2018 for Detroit conventional powertrain service training, the center has been expanded to accommodate eight new courses, including Detroit ePowertrain courses being launched on the Freightliner eCascadia and eM2. Certified technicians will be able to come to the facility to learn the latest technology from the nation’s leading manufacturer of heavy-duty (10-liter and larger) engines and electronic powertrains.
Courses in both diesel and electric vehicles are available at the facility and are offered by nearly 10,000 technicians who serve 770 distribution and service locations in Detroit. Dedicated on-site instructors instruct technicians in chassis diagnosis and repair, from basic truck maintenance and repair to advanced platform-specific diagnostic training on the latest Freightliner and Western Star trucks.
The Detroit Truck Service Training Center is one of three corporate truck service training centers located at or near DTNA manufacturing plants. Additional training centers can be found at DTNA’s truck manufacturing plant in Portland, Oregon, which also serves as the assembly site for the Freightliner eCascadia and eM2, as well as the truck manufacturing plant in Cleveland, North Carolina.
