DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA LAUNCHES DETROIT ECONSULTING AND INTRODUCES DETROIT EFILL BATTERY CHARGERS FOR BATTERY ELECTRIC TRUCKS
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) announced all-new Detroit® products and services to support fleets and customers in all-electric truck deployments. Drawing on the experience of more than 20 customers deploying Freightliner medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks and three years of development experience, Detroit eConsulting services provide experienced know-how for fleets and are offered at three different levels of support. Similarly, the Detroit eFill line of electric vehicle chargers provides customers and charging station operators with a range of charger options.
“Detroit has been a leader in transportation transformation for more than 80 years, and with new eConsulting services and eFill chargers, we’re ready to help our customers on their journey into our shared electric future,” said Richard Howard, senior vice president of automotive sales and marketing, DTNA. “With the same level of dedication and expertise that our customers depend on today for traditional engine trucks, our knowledgeable team in Detroit is ready to support customers every step of the way toward electrification.”
Detroit eConsulting
eConsulting services in Detroit are provided by a team of eMobility experts dedicated entirely to supporting customers as they transition to electric trucks. Three service packages are offered, including: Baseline, Powerline or Megaline. The top-tier Megaline package, recommended for large-scale electric truck deployments, provides customers with assistance in planning charging infrastructure projects, solar panels and fixed energy storage, as well as support from the eConsulting team to interact with local utilities on their behalf. Additional services in the package include comprehensive cost-benefit analysis and routing, as well as assistance in optimizing capital and operating costs.
The Powerline package includes the same benefits as the Megaline package, without support for distributed energy resources (e.g., solar, storage) or interface with local utilities. The Baseline package – free to all buyers of Freightliner electric trucks – includes best practices and dealer-level advice. Two higher-level packages are available to buyers of any electric truck, and services are not dependent on the purchase of a Freightliner truck. Detroit eConsulting solutions and services can be further customized by customers – in consultation with Detroit – to meet their specific needs.
“Detroit eConsulting is a truly unique offering because we have experienced experts who have supported more than 20 clients in electric truck infrastructure projects and deployments to date,” said Rakesh Aneja, head of eMobility, DTNA. “There is no team in the industry better suited to help Freightliner customers, as well as customers of other brands, make the transition to electric trucks.”
Detroit eFill.
In conjunction with the launch of Detroit eConsulting, the Detroit team is introducing the Detroit eFill Chargers, a complete line of commercial vehicle charging stations designed for seamless integration with the Detroit ePowertrain installed in Freightliner eCascadia and eM2 trucks. Detroit eFill chargers are extensively tested, have a five-year warranty and are versatile enough to charge a wide range of electric commercial vehicles from other manufacturers. Detroit eFill stations were developed in partnership with Power Electronics, North America’s leading provider of solar cell converters and a global leader in advanced energy storage systems, and installers with more than 45 gigawatts of capacity in 2020.
All Detroit eFill chargers available at launch are DC fast chargers that meet the CCS-1 standard, the most common type of charger for electric vehicles. Detroit eFill chargers are available in power ratings ranging from 30 kW to 400 kW, providing a scalable solution that allows everyone – from single- or dual-truck fleets to truck stop operators using full chargers and multiple power cabinets – to benefit from the same quality and reliability that is synonymous with the Detroit name.
Anea added: “The Detroit eFill line of chargers provides our valued customers with a reliable and durable option for their dealerships, operations centers or truck stops and is designed for long-term use to allow us all to move forward into the future of electricity. starting now. “
